  • Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC)

Whey protein concentrate is a type of dietary supplement derived from whey, the liquid portion of milk that separates during cheese production. It is a popular source of protein and is used by many individuals, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those looking to increase their protein intake.

    • Protein Content: Typically contains between 70% to 80% protein, but this can vary depending on the specific product. The rest consists of naturally occurring fats and carbohydrates.
    • Other Nutrients: Contains more of the beneficial nutrients found naturally in whole whey protein. This includes lactose, fats, and various immunoglobulins (antibodies) which can have their own health benefits.
    • Digestibility: Generally easy to digest unless one is lactose intolerant. The lactose content in WPC can sometimes cause digestive issues for those who are sensitive.
    • Taste & Texture: It tends to have a creamier texture and more neutral taste due to its fat and lactose content.
    • Complete Protein: Both WPC and WPI are considered complete proteins, meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids.
    • BCAAs: WPC is rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) which are crucial for muscle growth and recovery.
  • Whey Protein Isolate (WPI)

Whey Protein Isolate is a high-protein, filtered milk product containing very little lactose, fats, and carbohydrates. It is manufactured from cheese whey. It is a complete protein containing all 20 amino acids. It has a higher concentration of amino acids and less calories than WPC.

    • Protein Content: Contains a higher protein content than WPC, usually around 90% or higher. It undergoes additional processing to remove most of the fat and lactose.
    • Other Nutrients: The additional filtration process reduces the amount of beneficial nutrients found in WPI compared to WPC.
    • Digestibility: More suitable for those who are lactose intolerant or have sensitive stomachs, as it contains lower levels of fat and lactose.
    • Taste & Texture: Might have a slightly different texture and taste due to the reduced fat and lactose content. Some users find it to be slightly more watery or less creamy.
    • Complete Protein: Both WPC and WPI are considered complete proteins, meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids.
    • BCAAs: WPI is rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) which are crucial for muscle growth and recovery.
  • Digestive Enzymes

Digestive enzymes are proteins that facilitate the breakdown of food molecules into smaller components that the body can absorb and use for energy, growth, and various physiological processes. Digestive enzymes work by catalysing specific chemical reactions that break down complex molecules into simpler forms that can be easily absorbed by the body. Historically, people consumed raw foods that naturally contain enzymes aiding digestion. Foods like pineapple and papaya are naturally rich in the digestive enzymes bromelain and papain, respectively. Some Musashi protein powders contain papain to aid digestion.

No.

However, there are a number of measures taken to ensure the absence of doping agents/banned substances in Musashi bars. These measures include;

  • The bars are formulated to not contain any banned substances.
  • The manufacturing facilities for bars are Informed Choice registered, our manufacturing plants are operated under approval from the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority (Medsafe), the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and/or the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI). In addition, the manufacturing plant and processes are subject to strict quality control standards to ensure the product meets specification and is free from cross contamination.
